Rural Nursing in Wyoming County

Rural nurses may appear isolated to their urban counterparts, but in many ways they may be more engaged in their profession. - Phillips, 2004

We wear many hats and switch gears on a dime.  We understand the unique needs of the rural population and provide high quality patient care under stressful situations and limited resources.  We work for less pay and travel many miles to work each day in sometimes treacherous travel conditions.  We do not have the benefit of specialty units, specialty departments, and 24/7 support staff.  Instead, we are often short staffed with large intensive patient loads.

But...we wouldn't trade our career for the world.  We care for babies and the elderly.  We treat sniffles as carefully as we save lives...often in the same day.

WCCHS provides a unique opportunity for nurses to work in a rural setting with competitive wages.  We offer opportunities for professional growth and a friendly, family oriented environment.  Reward and recognition for expertise in clinical practice, education, and performance improvement are the fundamentals of the clinical ladder program.  Nurses are empowered to seek educational opportunities and advanced training in the workplace for clinical advancement.
