WCCHS Welcomes Interlakes Oncology & Hematology

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEOctober 27, 2011

Warsaw, New York, October 19, 2011 – Wyoming County Community Health System (WCCHS) is pleased to announce the addition of oncology and hematology services through Interlakes Oncology and Hematology.  Consultation services and follow-up care will be available at this location, approximately two days per month and at Interlakes other locations five days each week

Patients from Wyoming County have already expressed gratitude to the group for having a local presence where they can receive consultation.  Dr. Alexander Solky, Oncologist and President of Interlakes Oncology and Hematology, expresses his enthusiasm for the group’s new location.   “We truly enjoy seeing patients from smaller communities, like Warsaw.  We already have part time offices in Brockport and Geneva, and helping the people of Wyoming County seemed like a natural extension of our group’s core mission.”

Cancer is a costly business, for patients and providers, especially with reimbursement rates constantly being diminished. The group’s decision to locate in Wyoming County was based on both the community’s need and their relationship with Dr. Ramon Qazi who had previously offered oncology services at WCCHS.

Dr. Jessica Kleiner and Dr. Tarek Sousou will join Dr. Solky as physicians who will be available at their WCCHS office. The group’s mission is to provide patients with “state-of-the-art, compassionate cancer care as close to their homes as possible, with access to the most modern treatment”.

Due to the costly nature of administering chemotherapy and the need for specially trained registered nurses, patients who are seen at WCCHS who require intravenous (IV) treatment will go to one of Interlakes’ convenient locations in Rochester or Greece, both of which provide easy access and convenient parking.  Services at WCCHS will be for consultation and some follow-up care.

Interlakes Oncology providers maintain consulting privileges and admit through hospitalists groups and the patient’s Primary Care Physicians at WCCHS, Unity Health System, Thompson Health, Lakeside Health System, Geneva General Hospital, Highland Hospital, and Strong Memorial Hospital.

The Interlakes Oncology and Hematology office is located in the main facility at WCCHS.  To find the offices, patients are encouraged to park in the main hospital parking lot and use Entrance “B”.  Once inside the facility, turn right and follow the signs marked “Workplace Health” which is located next to Interlakes Oncology offices.  To schedule an appointment, call (585) 786-1366.
