WCCH Opens Front Parking Lots
Warsaw, New York, December 6, 2011 - Wyoming County Community Hospital’s front parking lots are now open. Due to the redesign of the lots, more handicapped parking is available in the upper lot, closest to the front/main entrance. The public should be aware that the three (3) stairwells in between the upper and lower parking lots will not be opened until the hand railings are installed, which is expected next week. Ongoing activities of the capital construction project include replacement of the roof, landscaping, sidewalk installation, and HVAC upgrades. The new helipad, located behind Thomson Hall, is finished and operational. Many concerns have been voiced regarding the retaining walls in front of the facility along Main Street. Accessibility to the hospital has been a major concern for many years due to the varying levels of the parking lots in relation to the hospital’s main entrance. Elevating the parking lot to provide easier access to the hospital required a retaining wall. In order to meet requirements set by the Department of Environmental Conservation during reconstruction of the parking lots, a large drainage and filtration system was installed to address the safe run-off of water on the hill in front of the facility. ### |
