Craniosacral Therapy and Clinical AcupressureCraniosacral Therapy: Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch hands on healing modality that enhances the body’s own self healing mechanisms. The healing process removes restrictions within the body that hamper the central nervous system. The practitioner assesses the craniosacral rhythm and has the ability to palpate restrictions in the fascia and craniosacral system which may deter healing. Craniosacral Therapy enhances and strengthens the body’s own ability to achieve better health and well being. Clinical Acupressure: Acupressure is the practice of applying hand or finger pressure to specific energetic or conductive points on the body. Acupressure regulates and balances the body’s energy system, releases blocked energy, stale blood and lymph from the tissues, and improves circulation. Pain, tensions, and toxicities in the body can be relieved before they manifest as illness. Our therapist uses a combination of craniosacral therapy and clinical acupressure in treatment. Craniosacral Therapy and Clinical Acupressure can assist to alleviate pain and dis-ease in the body such as:
Added benefits are an enhanced immune system, increased circulation, decreased tension, and increased energy. How is a Session Performed? A session usually takes place in a quiet, private setting. The client remains fully clothed, in loose, comfortable clothing. The session is performed with light touch, hands on healing, with the client reclining on a massage table, while the practitioner stands or sits, positioned at various times throughout the session at the client’s head, middle torso and feet. What You May Experience During a Session: Experiences during a session are as individual as the clients themselves. They may also differ from session to session. At times, a client may deeply relax or even fall asleep; at other times, he or she may talk a great deal, recalling memories or expressing emotions. Some will remain still during the entire session hardly noticing the practitioner’s assessment and treatment, while others may experience sensations within the body as the process is carried out. What You May Experience Following A Session: The immediate results can differ from client to client as well. The relaxed state may elicit the desire to sleep for several hours after a session. Others may experience an increase in energy. Reduction of pain or an increase in function may occur immediately after the session, or it may develop gradually over time. It is common for improvement to continue weeks after a session. For some, the body may go through a reorganization process as the body adapts to the release of previously held patterns. What Do You Need to Receive Treatment? You will need a referral/prescription from your doctor. The referral should state your diagnosis with evaluation and treatment for Craniosacral Therapy. You will then set up an appointment for an evaluation with a Physical Therapist and then be referred to the Craniosacral Therapist for treatment. Treatment is covered by most insurances.
