“It feels so good to breathe again!”
– Kim Moore, Warsaw, NY
If you wanted to know if rain was in the forecast, all you had to do was ask Kim Moore. Kim wasn’t a trained meteorologist: one could say she had a ‘nose’ for the weather. “I’ve had allergy and sinus problems for years,” said Kim. “I could always tell when it was going to rain.”
Kim was plagued with sinus headaches; sometimes two headaches a week. Often they were debilitating. “I couldn’t breathe out of my right nostril,” said Kim. “You can’t do a lot when you can’t breathe!”
With Kim’s sinus conditions only getting worse, she went to see Dr. Kevin O’Connell, a board-certified ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist and allergist at Wyoming County Community Health System. Dr. O’Connell identified an infected cyst in Kim’s right cheek through CT scans. Then he performed outpatient deviated septum surgery.
“Dr. O’Connell took the time to explain the procedure and whatto expect,” said Kim. “And their office was very flexible in scheduling the procedure.”
Now, when Kim wants to know if it’s going to rain, she checks the forecast on her smart phone. Meanwhile, she looks forward to stopping to smell the roses and play with her two grandchildren. “I’m so grateful to Dr. O’Connell and Wyoming County Community Health System. I only wish that I had done this years ago!”
