Thanks to Dr. Paul Mason (right), Bob Zuidema (left) has a new zest for life. “For a long time, my left knee had been really hurting,” Bob explains. “On a scale of 1 to 10, the pain was as high as an 8 and only getting worse. I had to quit working out at the Y, and sometimes the pain would even wake me up at night.”

For Bob, choosing Wyoming County Community Health System and Dr. Mason, a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon, to perform arthroscopic knee surgery was easy. “I’ve had several surgeries at the hospital in the past, and I’ve always been impressed with the care,” Bob says. “This time was no different. Dr. Mason was very personable and easy to talk to. Registration was a breeze, and my blood work was a snap. And the day of the surgery, I was in and out of the hospital in less than 4 hours.”

Today Bob is riding his stationary bike 30 minutes a day and lifting weights. “My knee feels great, like I’m 40 years old again!” says Bob, who just recently turned 70. “I used to work as an EMT with an ambulance unit, so I know firsthand how providing medical care as soon as possible can saves lives. That’s the reason I’m so thankful our community has a hospital like Wyoming County Community Health System.”
