“When I needed a new knee, WCCHS was the place for me!”
When Cheryl Volk started having pain in her left knee, she went to see Dr. Paul Mason, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with Wyoming County Community Health System.
“Dr. Mason is so professional and kind, I actually enjoyed going to his office,” says Cheryl. “For a time the alternate treatment methods really eased my pain.”
Eventually, though, it was time for knee replacement surgery. “Dr. Mason told me that the technology available at Wyoming County Community Health System is equal to the other hospitals where he performs joint replacement surgery,” says Cheryl. “About 10 years ago, I had my other knee replaced at a major Rochester hospital. And I have to say that the pain that’s inevitable with this type of surgery was much, much less this time around. Plus the care I received at Wyoming County Community was absolutely phenomenal. I so love WCCHS!”
Cheryl did have one complaint about her stay, though. “I’ve been trying to lose some weight recently,” she says. “But the hospital food was so good, I just couldn’t resist cleaning my plate!”
Today, Cheryl is well on her way to a full recovery. “In the past two or three years, I’ve really seen a positive change in the reputation of Wyoming County Community Health System,” says Cheryl, who recently made a donation to WCCHS in appreciation of the care her late husband received in its Skilled Nursing Facility. “And that makes me feel good about the future of our community!”
