Wyoming County Community Health System (WCCHS) announced the establishment of the position of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), as well as the promotion of Connie Almeter to this position at its June 25, 2019 meeting.
As our organization has grown and expanded services the important role across the organization of our nursing leadership has also expanded, stated WCCHS CEO Donald Eichaneuer. In recognition of the key role of nursing leadership in the success of the organization, the position of CNO was established.
Connie has worked at WCCHS for thirty-five years and has advanced through progressively more responsible positions from direct patient care nursing, Director of Workplace Health Services, nursing education and infection control to nurse administrator. She was a leader of many acute quality initiatives, was instrumental in achieving advanced total hip and total knee replacement certification, and coordinated the last successful Joint Commission survey and accreditation.
Since 2015, Connie has served as the Acute Director of Nursing and demonstrated significant knowledge and dedication. Connie will report directly to the CEO and continue to manage nursing administration, regulatory affairs and be the point-of-contact for the Joint Commission and NYS Department of Health.
