About:

Dr. Privitera earned his medical doctorate from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  He subsequently completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  He has significant experience caring for high school, college and professional athletes.

Dr. Privitera offers comprehensive treatment of all shoulder problems.  He offers advanced rotator cuff surgical care including repair of complex tears, revision surgery, and biologic augmentation.   He performs both arthroscopic and open surgery, including anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacements, and shoulder fractures.  He also performs hip and knee arthroscopy for sports injuries and pre-arthritic conditions.  At the pioneering forefront of biologic joint preservation for active patients with meniscus and cartilage problems, Dr. Privitera offers meniscus repair, meniscus transplant, cartilage transplant (including MACI), and corrective osteotomies. Dr. Privitera also treats chronic exertional compartment syndrome, Achilles and hamstring ruptures, and other sports injuries.
