Wyoming County Community Health System (WCCHS) is excited to announce the introduction of the Zimmer Biomet Robotic Surgical Assistant, (ROSA®,) the latest addition to the surgical technology available to WCCHS orthopedic surgeons. The ROSA® Knee System is designed to help surgeons tailor knee replacements to the specific anatomy of each patient.
Due to an aging population in Wyoming County, the demand for knee replacements is increasing. To address this need, WCCHS is pleased to be the first hospital in rural Western New York to offer one of the most advanced knee replacement surgical options in the country. Patients are already scheduled for knee surgery with the ROSA® in early January 2025.
According to WCCHS’s board-certified and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Sendhan Rajamanickam, “I’ve been using the ROSA® Knee System for many years and it offers numerous benefits to patients. This technology offers more precision and the surgeries are less invasive which helps reduce complications, recovery time, and future revision rates.”
CEO David Kobis says the ROSA® Knee System is just one example of how the health care system is investing in technology. “Total joint replacement is one of the most commonly performed elective surgical procedures in the United States, and this system will lead to better outcomes for our patients. WCCHS is committed to strategically investing in technology to better serve our community.”
This new and innovative approach to knee replacement is exciting for our orthopedic team and for our patients. Discuss all your orthopedic options with your physician. A new knee will help you get back to the activities you enjoy.
